SUGV 310
Unmanned Ground System – UGS
Back-Packable, Rugged Robot
SUGV is a portable, single-person-lift robot with dexterous manipulation for dismounted and mobile operations. SUGV provides dismounted EOD technicians and other responders with a highly mobile robot that climbs stairs and manipulates objects. SUGV is carried and deployed from packs while on the move. The robot weighs about 30 lb (13 kg) with the manipulator and batteries installed. The SUGV manipulator lifts up to 22 lb (10 kg).
Portable and rapidly deployable
Weighs about 30 lb (13.6 kg) with the manipulator and batteries installed.
Strong, dexterous manipulation
The manipulator lifts up to 22 lb (10 kg) and rotates a continuous 360 degrees. Supports optional disrupters.
Powerful, multi-sensor capability
Four color cameras with zoom and illumination. Supports an optional fifth camera with thermal capability.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the 310 SUGV?
A Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUGV), man-portable and developed originally by iRobot (later Endeavor Robotics, now under Teledyne FLIR). It’s designed for tactical operations like EOD, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
How much does it weigh?
Approximately 13‑14 kg (around 30 lb) including the manipulator arm and batteries—light enough for a single operator to carry.
What is its top speed and battery runtime?
It can reach speeds up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph). With BB‑2590 batteries, runtime can extend up to 6 hours.
What kind of terrain can it handle?
Capable of climbing 40° slopes (ascend/descend), traversing 30° side slopes, negotiating obstacles up to 30 cm (12″), and climbing stairs with an 8″ rise (38° incline).
What sensors and cameras does it carry?
Standard payload includes four color cameras (with zoom and illumination) and optional thermal imaging (fifth camera).
Can it manipulate objects?
Yes—it features a dexterous manipulator arm, rotating 360°, lifting up to 10 kg (22 lb) close-in, and still capable of lifting around 5.4 kg at full 61 cm extension.
How is it controlled?
Operators use the uPoint® Multi‑Robot Control System, a rugged tablet interface. It uses the MPU5 Wave Relay® MANET for robust wireless connectivity with operators and other robots.
What are its primary applications?
Commonly used for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), route clearance, surveillance, reconnaissance, and structural inspection in both military and public safety contexts.
Who manufactures it, and what’s its lineage?
Originally developed by iRobot Corporation (as part of Future Combat Systems), production later shifted to Endeavor Robotics and now under Teledyne FLIR Defense
Is it still supported or in service?
Yes, it remains in use. In September 2024, Teledyne received a five‑year sustainment and support contract (worth up to US $15 million) that includes the SUGV 310, among other ground robots.
